Eyolf Dale (b. 1985) is one of Europe’s foremost jazz pianists and composers. Acclaimed for his solo work and his collaborations with a wide circle of leading jazz artists, he is also a central voice in celebrated ensembles including Eyolf Dale Trio, Eyolf Dale’s Wolf Valley, Albatrosh and Daniel Herskedal Trio, . Since his solo debut in 2011, Dale has been a defining figure of his generation on the European jazz scene.
As both bandleader and sideman, he has performed throughout Europe and toured in the USA, Japan and China. His solo work balances the mature lyrical introspection associated with Norwegian jazz with an explorative curiosity and a restless, free-spirited streak that has become a hallmark of the Nordic improvising scene.
Dale has twice been nominated for Spellemannprisen, the Norwegian Grammy equivalent, in 2013 and 2016, for his solo albums. In the duo Albatrosh (formerly his duo with reedman André Roligheten), he was named “Young Jazz Musician of the Year” at JazzIntro in 2008, and the duo went on to win “Best Band” at the European Jazz Competition at North Sea Jazz in Rotterdam in 2010.
Dale releases his solo work exclusively on Edition Records and is a Yamaha artist.
